Danmarks Forsorgsmuseum - welfare department for the poor
The needy lived in the welfare section. They were mostly elderly, single people without family or spouses to support them. Sometimes they were also people who lived in poverty through no fault of their own, for example, due to physical or mental disabilities. Take a look at the laundry, which dates back to 1872. It was in operation almost until the poorhouse closed. Here, the women washed all the laundry. They also washed dirty laundry from outside. Or take a look at one of the bedrooms, where you couldn't choose your bed partner.
