Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek - via Tietgensgade
Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek is an art museum founded in 1888 by the brewer Carl Jacobsen (1842-1914). The museum contains two main departments of ancient and modern art, offering a unique combination of art in impressive architectural surroundings. The Department of Antiquities houses excellent collections of Egyptian, Greek, Etruscan and Roman art, providing a delightful and thought-provoking stroll through 3500 years of art and history. The Modern Department focuses on Danish painting and sculpture of the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as French art of the same period: Enjoy paintings from Denmark's "Golden Age", and experience French Impressionism as well as more than 40 works by Gauguin. It is also possible to see the complete series of Degas' bronzes - and 35 sculptures by Rodin. You may relax in the spacious Winter Garden and refresh yourself at Café Glyptoteket. Ny Carlsberg Glyptoteket is situated in an old building and the accessibility is challenged because of the magnificient old architechture. Please read the information below for further details.
