Furesø Kommune
Furesø - this is where the North of Sealand begins at the entrance to the greatest and oldest nature preserve, the Nature Park between Farum & Slangerup. At a distance only 18 km from Copenhagen and surrounded by forests, lakes and the open culture landscapes. Because of that, locally they call it "The Land of Nature". At the shore of the two great lakes, Lake Furesoe and Lake Farum, and as the important Southern gate to the great nature preserve between Farum and Slangerup, the modern, bustling Farum is situated. The old and winding mainstreet look like a traditional Danish village street, but modern Farum offers visitors some of the best sports and shopping facilities in the Northern outskirts of the metropolis Copenhagen! Farum can be reached by suburban train, bus or old steamers from the see side. During the last 30 years Vaerloese has become a modern suburb with more than 18.300 inhabitants. But it has happened in respect of the nature so that today it´s possible to enjoy the nature on a walk or by bicycle only a few minutes from the suburban train station. In the city centre, "Bymidten", just by the station you will find af nice shoppingcentre. Not officially it has been named "The Red Square" because of the colour of the pavement. In the centre you will also find the city hall, cinema, café, restaurants, library, Vaerloese Museum, sportsfacillities like tennis courts etc. Guide can be ordered at the touristoffice.
